Help! I need to reschedule my safari/class. How can I do this?
Our safaris are frequent, and we always try to accommodate individual circumstances. With proper notice (8 days), we allow you to reschedule your valid safari without penalty as much as your schedule dicates. We also promise our employees that they will always have notice of any changes to their schedules. So, for all local and regional safaris and classes, just contact us at least 8 days in advance to let us know you need to reschedule and we'll take care of it for you! We do understand that emergencies can come up last minute and we don't want you missing out on an experience with us! So, if you'd like to reschedule your local or regional class or safari within the 8 day window, contact us and we can do so with a $35 non-refundable fee per participant to reschedule. For national and international safaris, please refer to the trip policy.
Where exactly do I meet for my safari, class or event?
- Local Safaris, Classes & Events: You will receive a confirmation email after placing your order with details about where to meet. You will also receive an email reminder 1-2 days prior to your safari/class with this information.
- Private, Regional, National & International Safaris: We will work with you individually to set up the specific meeting location.
I have a gift certificate / gift code. How do I sign up?
Please contact us to use your gift certificate.
Why isn't my promotion code working?
Try entering your code exactly as it is shown (caps, lowercase, etc.) and without spaces, dashes and other special characters and click "recalculate". If you still receive errors, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Questions regarding additional participants tagging along come up frequently. We have found with experience that extra people become a distraction for participants and the instructor and the "extras" are usually not too excited about being there because they cannot manipulate the camera 100% of the time. If there is another person with interest in photography who would like to attend, we definitely want to make it easy for you to attend together; please contact us if this is your situation.
How many people attend each of your safaris / classes / events?
We try to keep safari participant numbers low so there is time for the safari leader(s) to work with participants. Classes are held in normal size classrooms and speaker events can have hundreds of participants.
Is there a lot of walking on your safaris?
Our local safari routes usually entail 1-2 miles of walking, but it is limited to a small city area for each safari. Our regional, national and international safaris vary greatly in the amount of physical exertion needed. If you are concerned there may be too much walking or physical strength needed, contact us and/or consider attending a few classroom sessions where walking is much more limited.
Why does my gift certificate value differ from the listed safari / class / event price?
There are times when we offer a promotion on gift certificates and/or need to change prices. Your gift certificate is always valid for the product it was purchased for or you can decide to use its value to apply to another safari, class, or event.
What happens if there is bad weather on the day my safari is scheduled?
The weather on the day of your safari will definitely impact the types of photos you'll get. 99% of the time, our safaris go on rain or shine. Many of our safari locations have a mixture of indoor and outdoor shooting/sheltering locations so we can adjust to weather changes. Also, days that many of us think are going to be horrible for a safari turn out to give us the most amazing shots because of the constantly changing sky and thunderous clouds. There are a few safaris each year, however, where the safari leader feels the weather will create a negative experience for participants. In these rare cases, the safari leader will cancel the safari at least 2 hours prior to the safari start time and he/she and/or office employees will contact all participants via cell phone numbers (and emails in some cases when cell phones are not working) to notify them of the cancellation. Our office staff will work with you to find another date in the future that will work better. Also, please be aware that weather can differ wildly within just a few miles. If it is raining like crazy where you live, it may be lightly sprinkling or be sunny where the safari is scheduled to take place. There may be situations where it's thunderstorming when you arrive and you start the safari indoors, and then are able to pop outside for some shots when it lets up a little. Please try to arrive to the safari with proper rain equipment (umbrella, rain jacket, etc) if rain is forecasted.
We have recently released a new version of our website so the instructions you may have received on your safari will not work any longer (as menu options have changed, etc.). The upload option is on each safari page (next to the "view photos" button).
Is there a minimum number of participants required for a safari?
There are minimums for some safaris. Minimum numbers vary with the type of safari, location, and season. If the minimums for a given safari are not met, you will be contacted and we will work out a new schedule.
